I was introduced to my first Devon Rex at a show in the summer of 1986 by Jan Plumb. I watched the kittens as they misbehaved
in their pens and fell in love with the breed immediately. In October 1986 I collected Twizzy from Jan. I remember those first
few months of getting to know each-other. Me learning to do everything the way Twizzy wanted
it.
I didn't know cat's could sulk, until one day when I tried to tell him off for chewing another one of my books. He stalked
off and sat on the other side of the room with his back to me, shoulders hunched and just ignored my vain attempts to 'talk
it over'.
Twizzy became a diabetic at the age of 10 and had to have injections of insulin twice a day. In the end his nervous
system failed and he died at the age of twelve. I had so many wonderful times with him. I have never met another cat with
such an enormous personality. I still miss him very much, but I am so lucky I had him for those 12 years. |
