Our History

Amarogue Dijon 7.7.1986 - Sept 1998

I was introduced to my first Devon Rex at a show in the summer of 1986 by Jan Plumb. I watched the kittens as they misbehaved in their pens and fell in love with the breed immediately. In October 1986 I collected Twizzy from Jan. I remember those first few months of getting to know each-other. Me learning to do everything the way Twizzy wanted it.

I didn't know cat's could sulk, until one day when I tried to tell him off for chewing another one of my books. He stalked off and sat on the other side of the room with his back to me, shoulders hunched and just ignored my vain attempts to 'talk it over'.

Twizzy became a diabetic at the age of 10 and had to have injections of insulin twice a day. In the end his nervous system failed and he died at the age of twelve. I had so many wonderful times with him. I have never met another cat with such an enormous personality. I still miss him very much, but I am so lucky I had him for those 12 years.

'Sid' was my second Devon Rex. He loved my husband and I very much, but could not 'stand' anyone else! Sid would often sit on the kitchen stool and took great delight in whacking my young son as he toddled past him. He used to love slidding down my legs, head first, on his back, which is what he was doing in this picture. Sid developed skin cancer and died in 1999.

Berilleon Isidore 19.4.1988 - Jul 1999

Clanclinton Clarabella 18.6.90 - April 2002

Clarrie and her sister Elsie were my first two breeding queens. Clarrie had her first kitten when she was a year old. Just the one kitten, who was enormous. I remember Clarrie standing up with her two front feet on the edge of her box and yelling until he finally entered the world. She was a strong woman! Such a very loving girl who always wanted to be in my arms. Her first show as a four month old kitten was at the Kentish Cat show in October 1990. She won Best in Show foreign kitten. I cried a lot that day! Clarrie produced some very beautiful kittens and I'm very lucky to have her last girl, Lulu, who is so much like her mum.
